Antiques In The Summertime
It’s peak summer time now and whilst the weather might not be perfect let’s not forget the snow we had last winter! We’ve been quite busy these last few months and have added a range of new pieces to the Perfect Pieces website, here are just a few of them:
Lilac PenDelfin Rabbit Margot
An unusual lilac PenDelfin rabbit Margot.
Margot was designed by the well-known PenDelfin founder Jean Walmsley Heap - this version of Margot was only made from c1956 until c1959. She is one of the earlier rabbits which can be seen in her design and in her labelling underneath - she has the early & collectable gold PenDelfin rectangular label to her base. Large Denby Pottery Shallow Bowl

This Denby bowl is from the Glynbourne range that the Derbyshire pottery produced. From the Denby pottery markings on its base it can be dated from the late 1970’s to early 1980’s - it certainly has that style to the design.

1930's Poole Pottery Art Deco Vase
This 1930’s Poole pottery vase is decorated in a stylised flower and leaf design - Poole pattern code YK, and is typical of Poole's Art Deco designs.
This Poole vase has the salmon pink slip applied to its base which was introduced by the Dorset pottery after the red earthenware body had been discontinued. Click here for further pictures...
Rare PenDelfin Milk Jug Stand
This PenDelfin display piece was again designed by Jean Walmsley Heap, the founder of PenDelfin. It's an early display stand that was only produced by PenDelfin from c1966 until 1972. It's designed to allow one rabbit to stand next to the plate where there is a tart and milk jug!

Antique & Collectors Fair News
If you’re out and about over the next month or so then here’s a list of some of the antique fairs that are on this summer:
- Friday 13th - Sunday 15th August 2010: Stafford Bingley Hall Antiques Fair, Bowman Antiques Fairs
- Monday 16th - Tuesday 17th August 2010: Lincolnshire Antiques & Home Show, Arthur Swallow Fairs
- Thursday 19th - Friday 20th August 2010: Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair, IACF
- Tuesday 7th - Wednesday 8th September 2010: Ardingly International Antiques & Collectors Fair, IACF
- Friday 10th - Sunday 12th September 2010: Antiques In The Park at Kedleston Hall in Derbyshire, Jaguar Fairs
- Monday 13th September 2010: Swinderby International Antique & Collectors Fair, IACF
This list is by no means comprehensive, it’s always worth checking your local paper or listening to your local radio station for fairs and events on in your local area.
It's also wise to check with the fair organiser for opening times, admission fees & cancellations - they can sometimes change! Most fair organisers keep their websites up to date with important information so it’s worth a quick glance before making any long journeys.
Best wishes,
Perfect Pieces
