The M I Hummel figurines are undoubtedly W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik's most enduring and popular wares. Based on the drawings and paintings of a Franciscan nun, Sister Maria Inncentia Hummel, generations of collectors all over the world have treasured the beautifully-modelled porcelain figurines that celebrate the innocence of children at play.

First introduced in 1936, production of Hummel figurines has continued until the present day, not even lapsing during the Second World War, when Goebel were allowed to produce the figures for export, earning valuable foreign exchange. Many backstamps have been used over the years, but the quality and integrity of the figurines has never changed, and to this day, all designs are based on Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel's original paintings and drawings.
