One of the best known ladies of the potteries, Susie Cooper started her career at Gray's pottery. Her colourful, hand-painted geometric and floral designs quickly became very successful, and Cooper's early work at Gray's is highly collectable today.
In 1929 Susie Cooper left Gray's to found her own studio, the wares for which were produced by Wood & Sons in Burslem. Susie Cooper's work continued to be popular, and her combinations of functional shapes and stylish hand-painted designs remain popular with pottery collectors today.
