Macintyre pottery is perhaps best known today as the launching ground for the career of William Moorcroft, subsequently to become well-known for his own pottery. In the early 1890s, Macintyre's art pottery department pioneered the slip-trailing technique that later came to characterise Moorcroft's work.

During his tenure as head of Macintyre's art pottery department, Moorcroft was responsible for many of Macintyre's finest designs, including the Aurelian and Florian ware ranges.
