C. H. Brannam (sometimes referred to as Brannan) is usually considered to be the founder of the Brannam pottery in Barnstaple, Devon, although he did in fact take over the business from his father. Despite this, the creative and technical talent Charles Brannam brought to the business gave it a new lease of life, as did the recruitment of talented designers such as William Baron.

An order from Queen Victoria in 1885 helped to raise the Brannam pottery's profile, and the trademark Royal Barum Ware was subsequently established. Brannam's work remains popular with today's collectors of British art pottery.
