Troika Slab vase decorated by Penny Black. Penny Black started working at the Cornish pottery when it was based in St Ives in Cornwall in the 1960's. She remained at the pottery when it moved to Newlyn in c1970 and left in 1976. This Troika vase is part textured and part glazed. The front and back are textured and have striking abstract patterns - one side is decorated with a version of the circle motif used on early Troika. It has been finished with glazed blue sides. It stands approximately 17cm tall, 11½cm wide and is 4cm deep.

On the base of this Troika vase is the black painted Troika pottery mark, Troika England, and the decorator mark PB for Penny Black. It can be dated to c1970-1976.

Condition: Excellent overall condition. A stunning vibrant Troika slab vase.
