ITEM T280 - Troika St Ives Wheel Vase Decorated By Honor Curtis - Early Troika Vase

SOLD Nov 2011

Troika St Ives wheel vase decorated by Honor Curtis. This is an early Troika small wheel vase made when the pottery was based in St Ives in Cornwall - it was there from 1963 until 1970 when it moved over to Newlyn. It has superb designs on both sides with part of the patterns picked out in glazed colours. It measures approximately 12cm tall and 2½cm deep.

On its base this early Troika vase has the black painted Troika Pottery mark, Troika St Ives England, and the decorator mark HC for Honor Curtis. Honor Curtis worked at the Troika Pottery from 1968 until 1973. She used the HC signature mark after her marriage in 1969 (she was formerly Honor Perkin). Based on this and the Troika St Ives pottery mark this Troika vase can be dated c1969-1970.

Condition: Excellent overall condition. A lovely patterned early Troika St Ives wheel vase.
