ITEM T115 - Troika Glazed Slab Vase, early St Ives Trident Mark c1964-1967

RESERVED

An early and unusual dark-glazed Troika slab vase from the St. Ives period.

This early Troika vase is decorated in the dark, oxide glazes used during the pottery's early years. Although it is hard to see in the pictures, it is glazed in two distinct colours - black and blue. This vase bears no decorator's mark, but this was common on early pieces of Troika, many of which were decorated by Troika founder Benny Sirota in the period before the studio expanded its team of decorators.

This interesting and rare example of dark-glazed Troika is marked with the painted Troika Trident mark, which was only used by the pottery from c1964 to 1967.

Condition: Very good overall condition. It does have two chips to the inside rim (pictured below) but is otherwise excellent. This piece displays superbly and would make an unusual addition to any collection.
