ITEM P276 - PenDelfin Dungaree Father Rabbit Designed by Jean Walmsley Heap, 1955-1960 - Rare PenDelfin Rabbit

SOLD Oct 2012

Rare and original PenDelfin Dungaree Father rabbit designed by PenDelfin founder Jean Walmsley Heap. The Dungaree Father is the first version of the Father rabbit and stands with very large ears wearing a pair of dungarees! He was in production by the PenDelfin Studios from c1955 until they retired him in 1960 - making him one of the very early PenDelfin rabbits. Due to his thin neck and large ears he was very prone to breaking so the next Father rabbit was remodelled with a more stable head and neck - known as Kipper Tie Father!

This version of Dungaree Father is wearing light blue coloured dungarees that have been decorated with a stylised flower design.

On his base this PenDelfin Father rabbit has his green felt and the very early PenDelfin gilt butterfly PenDelfin Studios label that was on in use by the PenDelfin factory from c1956-1960.

Condition: A very early and large PenDelfin rabbit. He does have some large patches of paint flaking as can be seen, but displays well and would stand happily next to Mother rabbit in any PenDelfin collection!
