The Troika Pottery was founded in St Ives Cornwall, in 1963, by Benny Sirota, Leslie Illsley and Jan Thompson. Their vision was to create pottery as an art form, without regard to its functionality. This was a philosophy that ran counter to studio pottery fashions of the time, but the Troika pottery met with considerable success, producing distinctive textured and glazed wares.
Troika pottery continues to be popular with modern collectors, and recent years have seen a considerable growth in its popularity.
