This Troika vase has been decorated with abstract vivid blue and brown designs on two sides and finished with a striking deep blue glazed rounded top. The decorator Sue Lowe only worked at the Cornish pottery for a very short time, from 1976 until 1977, when it was based in Newlyn, in Cornwall, England.

Buying Troika Pottery – A Guide To Troika Pottery Shapes

Troika Pottery is extremely popular with collectors worldwide. If you’re just starting your collection you’ll probably be surprised at all the different styles and shapes of pieces available. Here’s our simple guide to buying Troika Pottery where we’ll show you just a few of the Troika shapes our there and available to collectors!

Smooth Glazed Small Slab / Spill vase, Troika Marmalade vase, Troika Cube vase & Troika Small Wheel vase

The Smooth Glazed Spill vase is a small vase completely glazed inside and out. They can be found with flower head designs, stylised flowers or even cartwheels decorated on to them. This example is a St Ives piece dating pre-1970.

The Marmalade vase is a popular Troika vase among collectors. It has four textured sides and a glazed rounded top with the inside always glazed white. The vase can be found with different patterns, colours and styles so the collecting options on this shape are endless!

The Troika Cube vase is slightly bigger than the Troika Marmalade but doesn’t have the rounded top – it is completely open once again with a white glazed inner. As with the Marmalade vases Cube vases can be found with different patterns and colourways by different Troika decorators so you’re not short on collecting options!

The Troika Wheel vase comes in a range of sizes – the smallest (pictured above) is approximately 12cm tall. The vase is wheel in shape with a small opening at the top – they’re a very nice Troika vase being quite delicate. You’re also able to find wheel vases from the earlier St Ives period (as the one pictured here is) as well as from the Newlyn period of the pottery giving you another angle on your collection!

The Troika Coffin vase is a very popular vase among collectors. It’s a sturdy vase standing approximately 17cm tall and is always decorated with a textured outer and white glazed inner. The patterns and style of decorations vary hugely so there is always a different patterned vase out there to find!

The Troika Rectangular vase is a larger vase than the Coffin vase standing approximately 23cm tall. This shape of vase was made by the Troika Pottery throughout the time they were at St Ives and in Newlyn so you can find early examples of this vase for sale. The earlier vases don’t have the abstract decoration styles of the Newlyn vases but have an attractiveness typical of the St Ives period.

Troika Square Rimmed Ashtray & Troika Lamp Bases

The Troika square rimmed ashtrays are more like square dishes – they have a deep center and over-hanging rim. They come in several sizes and are often styled with abstract patterns with glazed areas finishing the decoration. They’re a very nice dish – a change to a vase!

Troika made a whole range of lamp bases from tall rectangular pieces, smaller cube ones to a whole range of different sized wheel lamp bases. They come with a range of styles and designs in different colourways painted by different Troika decorators so the collecting choices once again are endless!

New Stock – Troika Pottery Rectangular Vases For Sale Including Early St Ives Vase

Two new pieces to the Perfect Pieces Troika Pottery section are these two lovely Troika Rectangular vases:

Troika St Ives Rectangular Vase and a Troika Newlyn Rectangular vase

Both these Troika vases are known as Troika Rectangular vases and stand approximately 23cm tall. The first is an earlier Troika vase dating from when the pottery was based in St Ives in Cornwall. It has the typical style of decoration from that period and has been decorated by Sylvia Vallence. Click here for furher information…

The second Troika vase is from when the pottery was based in Newlyn in Cornwall, from 1970 until 1983. This vase is more vibrant and textured in design a style seen throughout that period of the pottery. Click here for further information…

Judith Illsley was married to one of the founders of Troika pottery, Leslie Illsley, and only worked as a decorator at Troika for a very short time in late 1980!

NEW STOCK – Early Troika St Ives Rectangular Vase

One of the latest additions to the Perfect Pieces Troika Pottery section is this superb early Troika rectangular vase from the St Ives period:

This Troika vase is called a Troika Rectangular vase (due to its shape obviously!) and stands approximately 22.5 cm tall. It has decoration that is typical of the St Ives period – simple colouring with roundels on several sides of the vase. This Troika vase has the decorator mark of Marilyn Pascoe. Marilyn started at the Cornish pottery when it was in St Ives – where this vase was produced. She continued to work with the pottery when it moved to Newlyn in Cornwall in 1970 and finally left in c1974.

The Troika Pottery produced a vast range of different shaped vases, pots and plaques throughout it’s 20 years. We currently have a wide range of pieces including a rather nice Troika Lampbase, Cube Vases, Troika Marmalade vases and Troika Cylinder vases to name just a few different shapes!

Extremely Rare Troika Giant Wheel Vase – For Sale

The latest addition to the Perfect Pieces Troika Pottery section is an extremely rare and collectable Troika pottery GIANT wheel vase!

This massive Troika vase stands approximately 13″ tall and is the largest of the wheel vase range produced by the Troika pottery. Decorated by Troika decorator Avril Bennet this rare and very impressive Troika vase dates c1973-1979.

This vase is not only impressive in size but in decoration too – it has an interesting pattern on one side, the body design. Picked out in greeny blues, oranges and creams the design really stands out against the oatmeal brown base.

Two Very Different Troika Pottery Coffin Vases Decorated By Simone Kilburn!

Two new pieces of Troika pottery to the Perfect Pieces Troika Pottery section are these Troika Coffin vases both decorated by the same Troika decorator – Simone Kilburn:

Simone Kilburn only worked at the Cornish pottery for a short time – from around 1975 until 1977.

The Troika Coffin on the left has been coloured all over in a green wash. On the front and back it has the design picked out in contrasting cream colour and on one of the sides it has the collectable stick-man design – click here to view pictures of this Troika vase.

The Troika Coffin vase on the right is very different in colour. This Troika vase has been decorated with a bright vivid blue base with the collectable cross motif on the front picked out in contrasting dark colours – click here to view further pictures of this Troika Coffin vase.

Early Troika St Ives Wheel Vase For Sale

The latest addition to the Perfect Pieces Troika pottery section is this early Troika St Ives pottery small wheel vase:

The Cornish pottery Troika originally started out based in St Ives in Cornwall, England then around 1970 moved to Newlyn in Cornwall. This particular Wheel vase dates to pre-1970 before it had moved to Newlyn. It has the early black painted Troika pottery mark, Troika St Ives England, on its base.

There were a range of sizes made in this wheel shape by the pottery – this is called the small wheel vase and measures approximately 12cm in diameter.

Early Troika St Ives Chimney Vase For Sale

A superb new addition to the Perfect Pieces Troika pottery section is this stunning and early Troika St Ives Chimney vase – just in time for Christmas!

This is an earlier piece of Troika pottery made when the pottery was based in St Ives in Cornwall before it moved to Newlyn in 1970. On its base it has the early Troika St Ives black painted Troika pottery mark (pictured below).

This early piece of Troika can be dated to c1967-1969 as it has been decorated by the popular Sylvia Vallence. With blue glazed sides and good decoration on both front and back – including the popular so-called Stove design, this really is a superb piece of early Troika pottery.

Troika Pottery Cube Vases – Interesting Designs

In our Troika pottery section we have some really interesting Troika pottery Cube vases – pictured below.

The first one pictured is an early example of a Troika Cube vase. Dating from the St Ives period (pre-1970) this vase has the typical decoration of pieces of that time. This example has been decorated by Sylvia Vallence who worked at the pottery from c1967-1969.

Next is a Troika cube vase from the textured range decorated by Penny Black. This particular Troika vase is slightly later dating c1970-1976.

The third Troika Cube vase is one decorated in a blue base by Linda Taylor. Linda worked at the pottery from the late 1960′s to the early 1970′s. This particular piece dates from the Newlyn period – dating it early 1970′s.

The final Troika Cube vase has been decorated in green this time by Anne Jones. Anne only worked at the pottery for a short time and only part time from 1976-1977. This particular example has an almost oriental motif on one side.

This striking Troika egg cup has been decorated with a deep brown glaze with a stylised flower-head patterned around the base.

On the base it has the early printed Troika pottery mark in use from 1964 until 1970 when the pottery moved to Newlyn in Cornwall.
