Beswick Beatrix Potter Figurines – New Stock Mr Alderman Ptolemy

The enchanted world of Beatrix Potter has been brought alive by Beswick in their Beatrix Potter figurines. Not only did Beswick model Beatrix Potter but they also created a range of WInnie The Pooh figurines and Alice In Wonderland figurines – all often referred to as Storybook figurines.

We have just added a new Beatrix Potter figurine to our Beswick Beatrix Potter items, a Mr Alderman Ptolemy. He was modelled by Graham Tongue and was issued from 1973 to 1997. This example has the Beswick BP-3b pottery mark on its base. The pottery mark known as the BP-3b was in use by the pottery from c1974 to c1985. Given this information this particular example of Mr Alderman Ptolemy dates c1974-1985.

These figurines have a strong collectors market in the UK, being based on popular children’s tales has ensured they continue to appeal years after their first introduction.

Beswick Pooh Bear Starring in the Sunday Mirror

This Sunday, 21st September 2008, our Beswick Winnie The Pooh figurine was featured in the Treasure Hunters section of the Sunday Mirror newspaper!

In the question and answer section of the Treasure Hunters section of the newspaper a reader had written in to enquire about the price of some of the figurines from the Beswick range designed by Albert Hallam.  It was the photograph of our Beswick Winnie The Pooh figurine that was used as an illustration within the reply to the reader.

These original Winnie The Pooh figurines were produced by the Beswick factory. The series consisted of Winnie The Pooh, Eeyore, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl, Kanga, Tigger, and Christopher Robin. All were designed by Albert Hallam and produced from 1968 to 1990 except Tigger and Christopher Robin who were designed slightly later by Graham Tongue and produced from 1971 until 1990.
