Antique and Collectors Fairs Guide

Please click on any of the UK antique and collectors fairs below for our friendly guide to the fair.

We stand at a variety of antique fairs around the UK, but do not have a fixed schedule of fairs. Full details of antique & collectables fairs we will be standing at can be found on our Fairs Page. Should you ever want us to bring a particular piece of pottery along to an antique fair just let us know.

Antiques For Everyone Fair
One of the most prestigious non-invitation antique fairs in the UK. All stock at the Antiques For Everyone fair at the NEC is fully-vetted before it opens, so all the stock on display is guaranteed to meet a set of criteria - in the case of European ceramics, it must all be pre-1950.

It is a large event, and although not quite as well-attended as it once was, still boasts a variety and quality of stock rarely seen elsewhere.

Antiques In The Park - Kedleston Hall Derbyshire
The twice-yearly (June & September) Kedleston Hall event is one of those antique fairs that is great if the weather blesses it. An entirely marquee-based event, there are usually a good number of outdoor stallholders in addition to those choosing to stand at regular pitches inside the larger marquees.

Jaguar Fairs' Antiques in the Park is well-suited to collectors and family days out, and there is usually a good mix of stock for sale, from furniture to pottery, as well as the obligatory ice creams....

Ardingly International Antiques & Collectors Fair
DMG's Ardingley fair is the south of England's answer to the Newark International Antiques fair in the Midlands. Another very large showground antique and collectors fair, it features a wide range of indoor (well, cattle shed) stalls and outdoor stalls, with the usual wide selection of all things antique.

Primarily a trade fair, it is still good for a day out if you have not been before or are a serious buyer. Parking is ample although all on grass, likewise most catering is outdoors.

Bowman Antiques Fair Stafford Bingley Hall
Bowman Antiques Fairs' Stafford Bingley Hall fair is one of the best established fairs in the UK, and offers an above average selection of quality stallholders for a mid-size event.

Both the stock and the general mindset of the event are quite traditional and conservative, and the Staffordshire Showground offers ample parking and a bar-cafe, as well as delicious ice creams in the summer. There is always a broad selection of stock, including furniture and paintings as well as ceramics, glass, and jewellery.

Coventry Antique & Collectors Fair - Ricoh Arena
New for 2006, this addition to Dualco Promotions calendar is hosted at the Ricoh Arena (football stadium) near Coventry. It's a new site and very easy to find, and we enjoyed the inaugural event which we stood at in March.

For the first time out, there was a good range of ceramics, jewellary and ephemera for sale, and a reasonable number of visitors. Hopefully both will encourage the other and the next event (in September) will be even better.

Coventry Antique & Collectors Fair - Sports Connexion
The Coventry Antique & Collectors Fair at Ryton-On-Dunsmore is well-located for access from the west midlands and indeed further south, with good access from major routes.

Located at a sports centre and split between two buildings it is usually a busy fair with a reasonably good level of stock. Catering is a bit basic but enough for most requirements, and there is usually enough free parking, although it can get a little hectic. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Derby University Antiques Fair
The Derby University Antiques Fair is run by Jaguar Fairs (who also run the Kedleston Hall Antiques In The Park events) and is hosted in a modern hall on the main university site.

This antique fair is an especially good choice for winter days out, with a large car park and a well-lit and heated hall placing it in a league of its own for creature comforts! Although not a huge antique & collectors fair, the range and quality of dealers is generally above average, and there is usually a good selection of ceramics particularly. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Donington Antiques & Collectors Fair
Held at the Donington Park Exhibition Centre, on the site of the Castle Donington Race Circuit and close to J24 of the M1 and the East Midlands Airport, this fair is superbly located but has sadly gone downhill in the last few years, with both stallholder and visitor attendance steadily declining. There is lots of indoor space, ample parking and catering facilities, but these don't seem to be enough to make it worth a recommendation anymore. There are still a few good quality stalls, if you are passing by, but I wouldn't travel too far to visit.

Elsecar Antiques Fair
A small friendly fair that is always packed with stallholders and visitors, Elsecar is unusually popular, seeming to have avoided the dwindling attendances that have blighted some other antiques fairs. Ample parking and the additional attractions of the heritage centre on the same site add to the appeal of the event, and although stock for sale is mostly at the lower end of the market, there are usually a good mixture of affordable buys. A friendly atmosphere and a tasty cafe complete the mix - it is well worth a visit if you are nearby. See Newcomen Fairs website for dates and times.

Great Northern International Antiques Fair - Harrogate Showground
One of our favourite antique fairs, the Harrogate antique fair takes place at the Great Yorkshire Showground, on the edge of Harrogate, and features copious parking and usually a good choice of stock for glass, ceramics and ephemera collectors, although there is not generally much furniture.

Ample catering facilities and plenty of outside space make it suitable for a day out, especially when the weather is good! See the organiser's website for more details.

Greenfairs Scarborough Antiques and Collectors Fairs
A friendly little local fair organised by Greenfairs, Scarborough fair is worth a visit if you are nearby. It has recently moved to a new (smaller) location at the Grand Hotel, which overlooks Scarborough's South Bay, just outside the town centre.

As is normal with smaller fairs, ceramics, ephemera and jewellery are the order of the day and there is a specialist postcard dealer (Simon Smith Postcards) at every fair as well.

Newark International Antiques & Collectors Fair
Run by well known organisers DMG Fairs, Newark antiques fair is perhaps the biggest antique and collectors fair in the country. It built its reputation as a trade fair, with buyers coming from the US and Europe to buy stock to take home with them. Newark runs from Thursday to Friday, an attempt at a three-day format having failed due to lack of trade and public interest in attending on the Saturday.

Few antique fairs offer as much choice as Newark, with thousands of stalls filling the showground and covering the full spectrum of antiques, from specialist furniture through to European and oriental ceramics, ephemera and many other specialist areas. It takes a good few hours to get around, but is well worth a visit. Come on a Thursday or Friday to get the best from it.

Peterborough Festival of Antiques
The two day Peterborough Festival of Antiques is a large but friendly twice-yearly event, offering a good selection of ceramics and glass in particular, although not always such wide choices of furniture and jewellery.

The fair is held at the East of England showground, and is well-located for access from the Midlands, East Anglia or London. As you would expect, there are plenty of parking and catering facilities, and it makes a pleasant day out.
